Saving Lighthouses

Duxbury Pier Light was built in 1871 on the north side of the main channel in Plymouth Harbor to mark the dangerous shoal off Saquish Head. Locally known as Bug Light, you'll pass by this little 3 story lighthouse on your way to P-town if you sail out of Plymouth. In 1993 the Coast Guard suggested that the deteriorating structure be removed and replaced with a fiberglass pole. A new preservation effort began. Project Gurnet and Bug Lights, Inc. has been established to help repair, maintain and preserve the lighthouses on the Gurnet  (a small neighborhood located at the far end of Duxbury Beach) and Bug Light. HomeGrown is donating 10% of the proceeds from the sale of the HomeGrown Bug Light Tee Shirt to this local cause.
