Lost a Great Woman Today

I did this scratchboard drawing of my mother in law in May of 2009. It's currently hanging in the Danforth Museum in Framingham as part of the Community of Artists Exhibit. It's going to be very sad to retrieve that piece on Monday as the exhibit closes on the 7th. She passed away this morning. A charming woman who made a lasting impression on the world through her seven children, 20 grandchildren and a whole slew of great grand children. Feisty, funny, and admittedly vain (I loved that about her!) she was a character and she will be missed terribly. No matter how imminent a death is it never fails to come as a complete shock.

I will be postponing the soft opening of the shop until Saturday, August 6.
